Bubbles!
We took Alex to the 100yen store (Dollar Store) the other day, and let him pick out any toy he wanted. He picked a 6 pack of bubbles! Since it was chilly outside, Daddy and he decided to blow bubbles in the bathroom.

Halloween 2009!
Just wanted to share our Halloween pics from this year. We had a great time. Alex was a bit shy, and didn't want to stay out to long. But he still made out pretty well. He was really excited to be a doctor. He wanted Daddy to be a doctor too, but we convinced him that Daddy would be a better patient then a doctor.
Dr. Melo and his patient!

Dr Melo goofing off before we headed out.

Rori-bean getting her make-up on! She loved getting her costume on, she even left her hat on the whole time. She is such a princess.

Mommy and Rori together! Mommy went as a witch, and Rori was her black cat.

Just for today
A friend reminded me of this poem today. I had found it a couple years ago and loved it so much I swore I was going to frame it, but of course I never did. :sigh: I am so grateful my friend reminded me about it, and I wanted to share it with everyone.
To my child...
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face, and laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play.
Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.
Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.
Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.
Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows.
Just for this evening when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.
I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children; the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms; and the mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore.
And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold you a little tighter, and a little longer.
It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask Him for nothing, except one more day...

It's Done!!!
Alex's quilt is finally finished. It deffinetly took longer than expected, and had many frusterating moments, but it was worth it.
After I told Alex it was done, he got SO excited, started jumping up and down, and said "I love you so much, Mommy!. Thank you!" Who knew a 3 year old would be so excited about a quilt. lol
Here it is in review.
All my peices cut and ready to sew together.

Getting out my sewing machine manuel because my tension was all screwed up.

My peices starting to take shape.

Look! Blocks!

Putting what I had together, and realizing it was way to small.

Adding a border, and a border...

Sewing it together...wrong...

Sewing it together RIGHT!

Two more borders, and sewing it all together.

All together, and tied!

Close up.

The backing. It took a while to find something that would work. I finally found this from a quilt I made years ago for a friend.

On Alex's bed at last! With a pillowcase my Mom made for me when I was young, and a blanket his Grandma Melo had made for him when he was born.

Now all I need is a bedskirt...lol

Rori-bean's 6 month appointment
Aurora had her 6 month appointment today. She is doing great! She was 6.9kilos (15.2lbs), so she is staying in her curve. She is babbling like crazy, even saying ba ba ba and ma ma ma which is unexpected at her age. She is CRAWLING now!! Ack. You have to watch her closely, if she wants something she will find a way to get it. lol. Alex really has to watch his Cars around her, she LOVES them.
She just started sitting up better, she can hold herself up for a good 5 seconds before losing balance. The Doctor said she looks great, happy and healthy. She also said not to worry about feeding Rori cereal. Rori has no interest what-so-ever. So Dr. Moreck said it was okay to go with just baby food for now.
Here are some pictures from the park the other day. My little Sunshine and my little man too.

Site seeing in Yokohama
For our long Labor Day weekend, we decided to do some site seeing! We debated where to go for a while, and settled on Yokohama. So we packed up the kids, slapped on some sunscreen and headed out. It sure was nice to be touristy for a change. We only got lost twice...maybe 3 times, but we made it there whole and had a great time. Yokohama is very peaceful and not to crowded, so we just enjoyed wandering around taking pictures, and people watching.
First arriving in Yokohama, note the crabby Alex look.

The kidlets and I.

Yokohama Landmark tower. 970ft tall! Houses the worlds second fastest elevator, 41ft per second. No way I was going on that thing! lol.

Very large old school boat.

Neat orininal railroad bridge.

Very large faris wheel.

Stopping for dinner.

Super yummy Ramen!

The view of the "port" as we were leaving.

And one last one from the base of the giant faris wheel. We were going to ride it, but at $7 a person we changed our minds.

For more pictures go to our Webshots!

No sweeter sound
There is no sweeter sound than a baby's laugter. Well...maybe siblings laughing together...you decide.
To infinity and BEYOND!
Since Alex got his new "big boy" bed I've been redecorating his room. I decided to go with a space theme. I saw these "wall stickers" on-line and thought they were to cute to pass up. Once I got them in the mail, I found out they weren't "stickers" as claimed but wallpaper. They claim to be easily removable though, so I put them up anyhow. We shall see how "removable" they are. But until then they are SOOOOOOO cute!!

After I got them up, I couldn't help but dig out my old glow in the dark stars for Alex. He had oodles of fun putting them up, and I even spelled out his name and put it on the ceiling for him. He thinks they are so cool. Every night when we turn out his lights he says "It's my name!!!" lol

Big boy bed!
I can't believe my little man is in a twin bed already. I swear I just brought him home from the hospital...really. When did he get so big?!

Yesterday, they brought in his new "big boy bed" and he was SOOO excited. First thing he wanted to do was jump on it, lol.

We still need more sheets for it and I'm still working on his quilt, but he is in heaven. He slept great last night. I'm so glad we finally got him one.
And it's really nice to have the good crib in Rori's room where it belongs. Her room looks 100 times better with that crib in there.
I had been working really hard on getting his quilt finished. I spent 3 days at the sewing machine, and thought I was almost finished. I had gotten this really cute pattern online, but it was crib size. I figured it would only take a few extra squares to make it twin size. Boy was I wrong! After making 12 squares, I did the math and discovered I needed 36 more squares!! That is 3 times the size!! Holy Hannah. I don't even have the fabric for that. I am really hoping that they have the same fabrics at the bazzar this weekend or I am screwed, and Alex is getting a very small quilt. lol.
All my fabric cut

Peicing it together

Ironing like crazy

And putting it all together

Now if only I had 36 more squares! lol
